As a condition of the annual SVMI membership subscription, all schools, districts, and/or networks agree to adhere to the following Security and Ownership Policy for Copyrighted Materials licensed to or owned by the Silicon Valley Mathematics Initiative (SVMI), LLC.
Security and Ownership Policy of the Copyrighted Materials
The SVMI’s Mathematics Assessment Collaborative (MAC) Performance Exams for grades/courses, kindergarten through Data Science are copyright protected for use in SVMI’s Mathematics Assessment Collaborative. All tasks are designated secure. Educators are entrusted to maintain the security of the exams under the following conditions. The copyrighted and secure MAC Tasks, Exams, and corresponding resources are available via the Member Portal of the SVMI website (www.svmimac.org).
1. No MAC performance assessment tasks, tests, and/or materials may be used for educational purposes or administered to students without an annual SVMI Membership.
a. If a school, district, or network elects to not renew their annual membership, they must ensure that all copyrighted materials be removed from district servers and computers. 2. The MAC performance tasks, exams, rubrics, and/or calibration papers may not be made public, other than by the owners of the copyright or a contracted license.
3. Student MAC exam papers and test instructions may be used and shared internally with instructional staff for professional development, teaching, and/or assessment review purposes, provided the security provisions in this policy are strictly maintained.
4. If MAC tasks are used for an assessment, all student papers, exams and assessment materials must be collected and accounted for after assessment sessions.
5. The actual MAC student exam papers may not be passed on to another school district or become property of the student.
a. MAC tasks may not be sent home with students.
b. A parent may view their student’s assessment in a conference setting with a representative of the school system.
c. MAC exam papers or copies of the performance exam may not be given to a parent or sent home. NOTE: This restriction does not apply to MAC/MARS tasks from the years 1999-2013.
6. The educational institution is responsible for the security of the MAC performance exams, assessment materials and all student exam papers.
