Teaching Inclusive Mathematics: What Leaders Need to Know
Come and learn about recent scholarship on teaching knowledge for inclusive mathematics from Dr. Rachel Lambert of the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at UCSB. She will describe political knowledge for teaching inclusive mathematics, developed by herself, Alexis Padilla and Paulo Tan, and its connection to political conocimiento, a concept developed by Rochelle Gutierrez. The keynote will also explore how empathy can create conditions for shifting away from deficit mindsets. Rachel will also share activities she uses when working with teachers and give participants space to design and discuss their own professional learning designs.
